Engagement

Research has found that engagement reduces depression, preserves cognitive function, and directly lowers mortality rates. Active participation in social, physical, and mental activities transforms an assisted living facility from a place of residential care into a vibrant, thriving community.  At Parkview, we believe that interacting with peers and staff creates a supportive, family-like social network.  Structured group activities can also significantly lower feelings of isolation and sadness.  Engagement can be independent. Routine daily activities such as reading the bible, making the bed, listening to music, or playing word games also provide a comforting structure that can reduce daily anxiety. The Parkview team members know that making connections with residents and supporting interactions among them are good for everyone’s well-being.

Community

Fairbank welcomes residents at Parkview as members of the community!  Residents attend monthly community potlucks for seniors, use the library, shop in the stores, and attend events such as music in the park.  Residents have their own float in the Fairbank Island Days parade! The community also comes to Parkview.
